Description

Studium Sustainale: Introduction to Sustainable Development across disciplines.

The idea of the course is to bring together master-students of USI and to get to know the concept of sustainable development, why it is needed given the environmental and social challenges of our times, and how the concept of incorporating future generation’s needs into today’s world.

The course invites international experts to learn more about sustainable development and areas, where it has been applied already successfully.

We present and discuss sustainability in communication such as sustainability reporting, discuss sustainability in management and finance looking at corporate sustainability and sustainable finance such as the guidelines of responsible finance of the United Nations. Furthermore we look at sustainable architecture and green buildings in order to understand the encompassing nature of the concept.

After these theoretical foundations a simulation game on planning and applying sustainability is ‘played’ for an entire day (M. Ulrich, UCS) and finally a two day scenario workshop allows to develop projects within the students discipline and specialization.
