Sara Rubinelli holds a PhD from the University of Leeds (UK) in the areas of rhetoric and argumentation theory. Since 2006 she is Scientific Coordinator of the Institute of Communication and Health of the University of Lugano (CH), where she collaborates on national and international research projects that explore humanistic approaches to the field of health communication. She currently lectures on health communication, strategic communication in health, argumentation theory and persuasion research at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the University of Lugano (CH), at the Institut des Sciences de l´Information de la Communication of the University of Neuchâtel (CH) as well as at the Faculty of Computer Engineering of Polytechnic University of Milan (Como Campus, I).
The current research and teaching activities of Sara Rubinelli covers the following areas: argumentation theory, rhetoric, logic and analytic/critical thinking, technology-enhanced communication in the field of health communication. Specific contexts of research include: health messages design and tailoring, (expert-to-lay) knowledge translation, health advertising and marketing, health literacy, patient/provider communication, health information, health education, health promotion, chronic disease self-management programs, risk communication.
