Abstract

Structures are an essential part of the construction environment and their study occupies an important place in civil engineering and architecture curricula.

"i-Structures" is an online course for university, FIT and UAS students. It offers interactive learning modules for courses in basic statistics and structures, the emphasis being on graphical representations and intuitive understanding of the behaviour of structures. New software with a sophisticated graphics panel, allows students to experiment with the effects produced by changes in structure and applied loads.

"i-Structures" creates a common language, not only between students of the different universities, but also between civil engineers and architects, making it easier for them to work efficiently and creatively with one another.
