Abstract

The focus of the research described in this proposal is the investigation of crucial aspects of the specification of open distributed interactions systems modelled as artificial institutions, that is, systems characterized by institutional concepts and normative components. In particular, we plan to investigate the following fundamental institutional concepts: the notion of social commitment and joint (collective) commitment, the mechanism to enforce norms, and the relation that holds between the specifications of more that one institution when they contribute to specify a certain interaction system.
