Description

International Finance

The first part of the module begins with an overview of the institutional characteristics of the foreign exchange market and proceeds to examine the fundamental determinants of exchange-rate dynamics. The second part of the module reviews the theoretical models and the empirical evidence regarding exchangerate behaviour and examines the implications of these results for exchange rate forecasting, international diversification and investment decisions. The final part of the module assesses the current frontier of research in selected areas of international finance and prepares students for different career paths.

Real Estate

This course focuses on real estate decision making in the private sector, using tools from finance and economics. It aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the main concepts in real estate finance and investments. To understand the risks and rewards associated with investing and financing of residential and commercial real estate, the course considers primary valuation techniques, investment appraisal, and the importance of financing structure. There will be also an extensive discussion of current developments in the real estate sector, such as sustainability and green investing. After completion, students will be able to make and evaluate real estate finance and investment decisions.

Objectives

The course is divided in two modules.

International Finance
The aim of this module is to provide both a thorough foundation of the key concepts and a solid understanding of selected topics in international finance.

Real Estate
It aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the main concepts in real estate finance and investments.
