Description
This course supports first-year PhD students in successfully navigating the initial stages of their doctoral journey. It focuses on equipping students with the skills and strategies needed to manage their PhD project proactively and sustainably. Core topics include project planning, effective time management, and goal setting in a research context. Special attention is given to managing the relationship with supervisors, including how to establish expectations, communicate effectively, and deal with setbacks constructively. The course also encourages students to take initiative and ownership of their research trajectory, while remaining open to feedback and iteration.
