Financial Communication Law

People

Cottier B.

Course director

Description

The course aims to provide students with a better understanding of the numerous legal issues involved in financial communication. It focuses on the regulations applied to investment security (noteworthy adhoc publicity rules, insider trading), marketing (advertising and sponsorship, unfair competition, consumer protection), the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing, as well as questions of privacy, especially protection of the reputation of companies and managers, banking secrecy, and cybercrime.

As modern communication is no longer restricted to national borders and legislation changes ever more frequently, norms are not examined from a purely juridical point of view (as a lawyer would do), but dynamically and

internationally. Hence, not only Swiss law, but also relevant regulations in European and US law, are considered.

The course includes theoretical lectures and case studies.
