Description

Competitive intelligence is the continuous monitoring of rival’s business models and performances and the analysis of competitive dynamics evolution in a certain industry. Information collected through competitive intelligence activities are used by top management to support strategic decision making.

The course in centered on techniques and tools to support competitive intelligence analysis.

The course is based on case discussion and group-works on empirical issues.

Grading

Valuation is based on a written exam and a final work. 

0-7 points for the written exam. The exam is based on a case analysis. Further detailed information on the exam will be published on the web platform before the end of the course.

0-3 points for the final work. The final empirical work will be developed in small groups of students during the last four sessions under the supervision of Prof. Colombo and will consist in the elaboration of a competitive analysis on a certain industry.

Students have also the possibility to take up to 1 bonus point (to be added to the combined grade of the written exam and of the final work) thanks to in class assignments. Only students that will be present at the specific assignment work will be eligible for the bonus point.

Students can use their bonus points only if they obtain no less than 5/10 from the combined grade of the written exam and the final work and only for the first exam date. Groups for the final work and in class assignments should be composed by 3 to 5 students.
