People

Dillena G.

Course director

Doglio D.

Course director

Description

The first part of the course (G.Dillena) will focus on the concept of regulation (principles, limits, critical points), present different forms of regulations (legal, economic, ethic, etc.) and provide a critical evaluation of their effectiveness, limits and dangers. We will compare the options offered by different legislations and good (and bad) practices in different countries (essentially UK, US and Switzerland) and asking the students to analyze and discuss them.

In Part 2 (D.Doglio) students will explore author's publishing rights (copyright) and their outstanding role in the ordinary functioning of media industries producing and distributing content (books and news, music, cinema, television and video). Set in the framework of their historical evolution as means of intellectual property protection and vectors of value growth, copyright and its operational tools will be presented through theoretical assumptions, practical examples and case studies.
