Description
The course starts from the observation of the division between the figure of the architect and that of the engineer and, through the presentation of significant case studies, we will try to show how the collaboration between these two professional figures can lead to a more complete overview and, consequently, to better projects. Some of the themes typical of the engineering field will be addressed (bridge and road construction) to show the fundamental contribution that architects can make; and themes typical of the architectural field (the preservation of historical buildings) to highlight the importance of the role of engineers, in all cases presenting the structural theoretical tools used in the various cases analyzed, and how these can be useful and usable by architects. The lessons are thought as a true dialogue between architects and engineers, for which the active participation of the students will be encouraged.
