Description

Objectives

In this course, students will learn two important aspects of project management: a) The theory, methods, and quantitative tools used to effectively plan, organize, and control projects; and b) Hands-on, practical project management knowledge from optimization exercise and application. We will cover the following topics in the course: Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Critical Path Method (CPM), Linear and Integer Programming (LP/ILP), Design Structure Matrix (DSM), Critical Chain Method (CC), Theory of Constraints (TOC), Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT), Earned Value Management (EVM), Project Risk Management (RM), & System Dynamics (SD).

 

Grading system
50% assignments; 50% final exam.
