People
Description
The course is intended as an introduction to the subject of landscape. Firstly, it will seek to define the concept of landscape and relate it to other concepts such as country, territory, region, and so forth. At the same time it will trace the developments of landscape bound up, in the European tradition, with the birth of a specific pictorial genre. At a later stage we will discuss the landscape experience and its function within aesthetic and phenomenological theories. Finally, a third approach will reconstruct the short history of the discipline termed “landscape architecture”.
