Description

War memorials, monuments and museums of the Shoah The 20th century witnessed the traumatic experiences arising from the world wars, the horrors of the Shoah and other genocides. Collective catastrophes of this kind inevitably mark a moment of rupture and discontinuity in the usual dimension of artistic-literary representation, which suggests interpreting these events by stripping them of all celebratory rhetoric. The course intends to investigate the crucial points in the transition from the monuments to the fallen of World War I to the memorials and museums of the Shoah, presenting the different architectural typologies used to represent the great tragedies of the 20th century and the debate over their artistic representability.
