Description

The semester’s program will focus on the threshold between the consolidated city and the ocean – the harbour –, and the dissipation of barriers. The challenge is to explore forces “moving in opposite directions”: the urban fabric and industrial pavilions; confrontation and collaboration; heritage and infrastructure; public and private; industrial and domestic scale; border and permeability… The exercise should address an improved fishing complex facility around the spaces of the auction and the market, inquire into structure and spatiality, rationality and poetics. Face the coexistence of city residents, tourists and fishermen, the connecting of the port facility with its surroundings and overcoming, through drawing, the character of an urban barrier that it now represents, redefining a Port-City equilibrium.
