Project BSc2-I: Housing

The semester’s annual theme will be Tectonics in Architecture, a precious tool for the interpretation e the reflection on our profession, that links our thinking to a profound sense of composition by parts and the semantical meaning of the construction. To reinforce the didactical approach of the work we will confront ourselves with a "Total Timber" approach. Timber architecture, is indeed a perfect tool to explore the theme of the tectonics. The project in the first semester will be a small domestic refuge in a place chosen by the students. In the first part of the semester we will redraw and rebuilt ten examples of Timber Architecture. During our semester we will meet some of the protagonists of contemporary wooden architecture such as Gion Caminada, Hermann Kaufmann, Peter Zumthor, Sami Rintala and Bernardo Bader.
