Project BSc2-I: Housing

"Growing a house": we will focus on issues related to time, changes, flexibility and adaptability. Flexibility is considered the capability of a space to provide distinct choices, configurations, and customizations, a space playing different functions without a change in the form itself. Flexibility can be considered the capability of a space to create margins where alternative interpretations can be implemented. We will study the character of the place to be aware of its origins and understand its current conditions and issues. Climate, local flora and fauna, topography, historical and cultural traces will be fundamental elements of an individual research as well as of a group research which will guide the students in the design process. The region of Ticino will be the laboratory for the Atelier to investigate how to live in three different conditions.
