Project BSc3-I: Various Typologies

The semester will deal with the second phase of the project to refurbish Piazza della Repubblica in Varese. The first phase, conducted last year, developed choreographies, ephemeral architectures, contemporary meta-rituals together with possible redesigns of historical ones and similar activities in an open public space that the municipality has indicated as “unresolved” and for which it requested the students to present their contributions. These now become the basis for the second phase of the project. In this semester, students will be asked to design the five main themes identified: replacement of the Teatro Openjobmetis with a public roof, layout of a new green area, an access door on Via Magenta, the redesign of the flooring and reconstruction of the monument's staircase. The works will be publicly presented in Varese and will be part of an exhibition at Palazzo Estense.
