Structure and Architecture
In architecture, the load-bearing structure has always played a role of fundamental importance as it brings together all the elements of a building that perform the essential function of support and have the ability to resist loads. The load-bearing structure is often, in a more or less veiled way, also the formal expression of an architecture. It contributes to the definition of the internal spatial quality of a building and establishes a relationship with the context. The aim of the course is to stimulate students' interest and knowledge for the supporting structure through the presentation of buildings characterised by exemplary structural design, in the belief that they can appreciate the potential it offers within the design process.
