Laboratory of Modern Languages

Description

The Laboratory of Modern Languages (LLM) is part of the Services for Education, Student Life and Internationalisation area. It organises and coordinates practical language courses in Italian, German, French, and English, designed to strengthen and deepen language proficiency through the four essential skills: listening and speaking, reading, and writing.
Language learning is further enriched by the study of German-, French-, and English-speaking cultures, as well as by academic and specialised courses.
The courses are open to students from all faculties, as well as to university staff and collaborators, and are aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), enabling participants to achieve various proficiency levels.
The Laboratory also hosts the official IELTS and Goethe-Institut examination centres.
Since 2023, the Laboratory of Modern Languages has been a proud member of both the Association of Language Centres of Swiss Higher Education Institutions (CSUS) and the European Confederation of Language Centres in Higher Education (CercleS).
