Description
The USI Libraries bring together the University Library Lugano and the Academy of Architecture Library.
The University Library Lugano (BUL) is the body responsible for organizing documents (books, periodicals, electronic media etc..) within the Lugano Faculties of the Università della Svizzera italiana. The Library responds to aims of study, research and Information. The establishment of a specialized collection, however, is intended to support not only academic activities, but also the professional and cultural life of the Canton Ticino. The library therefore offers its services to all persons interested in the subjects studied at the University.
The Academy of Architecture Library (BAAM), in Mendrisio, has one of the largest holdings of the history of architecture and art in Switzerland. Its importance is now recognized internationally thanks to its continuously updated documentary holdings and the bibliographic rarities it possesses, particularly in the fields of the art and architecture of the Ticino, the neighboring regions and the Mediterranean area. The Library is notable primarily for its rich bibliographic collections in the fields of history of architecture, visual culture and the arts in general, including the theatrical and performing arts.
