The Modern Languages Lab, which is part of the Institute of Argumentation, Linguistics and Semiotics (IALS), coordinates the English, French, and German language and culture courses for the Bachelor in Communication Sciences. The Modern Languages Lab also organizes intensive and term courses that USI offers free of charge to USI students, as well as staff members of the faculties at USI. The main aim of the Modern Languages Lab is to develop the four main language competences, which are oral comprehension, written comprehension, oral production and writing. The development of these abilities goes hand in hand with the study of English, French and German culture.
The courses offered enable students to reach different levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
