Maria Caiata Zufferey holds a PhD in social sciences from the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). She currently is head of the health research unit at the Department Business Economics, Health and Social care (DEASS) of the University of applied sciences and arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI). She is also lecturer of qualitative methods at the Università della Svizzera italiana. Her long-term interests include life course research, with a particular focus on identity construction and agency in uncertain times. She has treated these topics by conducting several qualitative studies on drug use and on illness and risk self-management.
