Emma van Bijnen is a doctoral student, teaching assistant, and part of the Institute of Argumentation, Linguistics and Semiotics (IALS) at Università della Svizzera italiana.
Dissertation working title: (Re)establishing Common Starting Points in Labor Dispute Mediation. Emma's project is supervised by Prof. Sara Greco.
Emma holds a BA in English language and Culture from the University of Amsterdam, and a Dual Master's degree in Communication and Information studies, with Discourse and Argumentation as its specialization, from the University of Amsterdam.
Her research focuses on argumentation in dispute mediation.
Emma has won a Doc.Mobility Fellowship from the Swiss National Science Foundation for her project “The Proximity and Formality Mediation Model”, which is part of her doctoral monograph, and will be at the University of Copenhagen’s Faculty of Law from the 1st of September 2018 until the 31st of December 2019 (under Prof. Dr. Lin Adrian).
