Abstract

The aim of this study is to understand the determinants of the prescription and adoption of implantable device therapies, Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator (ICD), and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) for Heart Failure and Arrhythmia in Ticino, Switzerland. Specifically, we aim to analyze cardiologists’ decision-making process and communication behaviors regarding prescription of ICD and CRT. Moreover, we explore patient’s decision-making process and communication behaviors regarding acceptance of their doctor’s recommendation of ICD/CRT and associated self-management factors.
