Abstract

The research project "herd behavior in news markets“ – financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) – investigates communication phenomena, which economists coin as herd behavior or behavioral cascades. To investigate these communication phenomena, we draw from concepts developed by standard economists and behavioral economists. We conduct theory development and apply quantitative methods. And, we investigate different perspectives, i.e., of news producers as well as of news consumers.
