Abstract

The goal of this research and development project is to enhance the knowledge in the area of eLearning in the hospitality and tourism domain, specifically in the field of eLearning usage by Destination Management Organizations in order to train international travel trade. The project was commissioned to webatelier.net and UNESCO chair in ICT to develop and promote sustainable tourism in World Heritage Sites of the Università della Svizzera italiana, due to their expertise in instructional design of eLearning platforms, as well as previous extensive research in the field.

The project involves design and technical development of the eLearning course: Switzerland Travel Academy, currently available on the following link.

In the analytical stage, the following activities were performed:

  • Benchmarking analysis of existing eLearning courses provided by National Destination Management Organizations;
  • Three types of external evaluation: expert reviews, usability testing, and impact analysis through several online surveys;

Furthermore, learning analytics will be performed in order to evaluate the performance of the case.

The design, as well as the technical, and graphic implementation have been made by the USI eLab Service.
