Description
According to Giancarlo De Carlo, it is simply impossible to understand a city and the architectures that shape it unless one first understands in depth “the relationship of interdependence, necessity and correspondence between city and territory”. The course will therefore present the basic notions of the relation between city and territory, taking in some of the main urban texts and projects on the subject to better assess the development of the concept of the city itself, now very different from that of the last century.
Objectives
To acquire elementary knowledge about the nature of the modern city, its functioning and its relationship with the surrounding area through in-depth study of a number of books and by using indispensable tools of analysis such as photography, cinema and literature.
