Winter School Workshop: Earth Space
People
Description
Earth Space
The building processes of today’s architecture are among humans' most contaminating activities. How can architects and engineers help change this? In this workshop, we introduce the topic of earthen construction enhanced with digital fabrication. Focusing on a real-world construction project, we aim to investigate the importance of architects and engineers in initiating change for a more sustainable future. This year, we explore the potential of building components made from 3D-printed clay modules. The Winter School is an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Mendrisio Academy, the ZHAW Centre for Building Technologies and Processes, and selected industry partners.
Objectives
Explore digital fabrication with 3D-printed clay. Foster interdisciplinary collaboration with architecture, engineering, and technology students. Gain hands-on experience in sustainable construction. Encourage innovative design solutions for eco-friendly building components.
