Description

The course aims to provide students with an introduction to the main features of the Swiss legal system and an overview of the system of sources and fundamental institutions of Swiss public law. It will also enable students to understand the functions, responsibilities and methods of intervention of Swiss public authorities. Although the course remains focused on the Swiss legal system, students will also familiarise with how such system interacts with the European Union and the international legal orders. With a view to give students an hands-on expertise, the course will finally delves into the principles and rules that govern the intervention of Swiss public authorities in the economy.

Objectives

  • To understand the main features of the Swiss legal system, also in light of its interaction with the international legal order
  • To give an overview of the system of sources of Swiss public law
  • To understand the principles and rules that govern the intervention of Swiss public authorities in the economy
