Construction Details 2

The realization of an architectural work is the result of a complex and multifaceted process that cannot be reduced to the one-way translation of a design idea into a built artifact. The course involves the development of a design project on a specific topic, which will be explored from the city-wide scale down to the level of construction details.

Teaching will be based on discussions and critiques of the design projects presented by each student groups throughout the semester. As this is a practice-based course, theoretical concepts are integrated through project critiques. The course therefore requires continuous participation throughout the semester, as well as active engagement with the work produced by the other student groups.

To develop the student's construction skills not so much as learning a set of merely technical notions, but rather as learning the ability to translate an architectural idea into built fact in a rational, sensitive and coherent manner.

In presence

Students will develop a project in groups of four and present their work to the class at each lesson.
