Course objectives

This course teaches advanced methods of Operations Management for future executives. The main objective is to show how companies gain and sustain competitive advantages over their rivals through effective and efficient Operations Management. Operations management is the area of management, which is concerned with designing and controlling the production of goods or services. Based on a company’s competitive and business strategy, operation managers develop and control the process of transforming inputs (e.g. raw materials, labor, information, energy) into outputs (good and services) to create value.

 

Contents

This course focuses on the following key areas of operations management: operations strategy, process analysis, quality management, project management, waiting line management, inventory management and yield management.

 

Structure

The course uses lectures, online-simulations problem sets and case study analysis to teach advanced methods of operations management.

 

Grading

Grades are based on the result of a final exam
