Originally from Lugano and with a B.S. in Communication Sciences from USI (2002), Paula Peter received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Marketing with a Minor in Statistics from Virginia Tech (USA, 2007), where she was also selected as the recipient of the 2007 Pamplin College Outstanding Graduate Student Award.
Dr. Peter's research interests are related to social marketing, cause marketing, social media and the application of psychological constructs and marketing techniques to issues related to consumer welfare. Her expertise is on the role of emotions and emotional intelligence (EI) in consumer decision making, with special emphasis on strategies in order to "help consumers help themselves."
Dr. Peter is currently a tenured Faculty member of the Marketing Department at San Diego State University where she teaches Consumer Behavior (CB) and Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC). She has also taught IMC and Advertising at Virginia Tech, and Cause related Marketing at the University of Lugano in Switzerland.
Dr. Peter's research has been published in top business and psychology journals.
