Lattice Boltzmann for Hydraulic Turbomachines
During this project a new solver based on Lattice Boltzmann method will be developed. This solver will allow the efficient simulation of the turbulent flows in hydraulic turbomachines, delivering significantly more accurate results in a much shorter timeframe than is currently possible with RANS and LES methods. This leads to the possibility to account for off-design operating conditions already during the design process of hydraulic machines. Applying this method will lead to better understanding of off-design operating conditions and thus improved performance and more flexibility of hydraulic machines.
