Description

The Sustainability Project is the practical culmination of the Intercultural Communication and Sustainable Economics (ICSE) program where students apply the knowledge accumulated over the course of the exchange. It is a group-based learning experience which includes study trips and fieldwork in the organizations we study. We understand ‘sustainability’ as a triad of environmental, social and economic concerns, and strive to understand in the given context, how they can be appropriately balanced.

Objectives

The Sustainability Project aims to give you hands-on experience in sustainable business practices via direct exposure to such practices.

Learning methods

Learning methods are problem-centered. That is, the group(s) work as consultants to help the organization solve a concrete problem at the interface of business and sustainability. The pedagogy includes experiential learning and ethnographic fieldwork. There will be a minimum of three workshops throughout the semester to train you theoretically as well as methodologically for the field visits, as well as a final summit where we present the results of our work to the funding organization.

Examination information

This course is only available to students participating in the ICSE program. Evaluation is based entirely on the final report and its presentation.
