Monte Carasso International Seminar

The zone in question is close to the railway line between the Saleggi area of Bellinzona and Giubiasco railway station. This district has developed around some important industriies, which have in turn attracted numerous small artisan workshops, defining its markedly industrial character and rather confused and cluttered development. The changes envisaged in the redefinition of the urban geography of Bellinzona are now questioning the presence of these business uses in areas that have become central to its urban development. It will therefore be the Seminar’s task to reflect on these issues and seek to define a new urban morphology capable of integrating the area’s productive potential (retaining valuable buildings and businesses in keeping with the new urban visions) with the increasing presence of housing and possible new public facilities.
