Design and Representation
People
Description
The course will deal with the theme of “Cinema” through the analysis and representation of verisimilitude. In particular, the educational path will study four films: Robert Wiene’s Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari (1920), Fritz Lang’s M (1931), King Vidor’s The Fountainhead (1949) and Jacques Tati’s Playtime (1967). The set exercises will analyse a series of points of view deriving from frames of the films examined. Each student will be required to develop a series of exercises in pencil: evocation of the form, texture, light and shadows, a modulated line redrawing of a frame, etc. The final work will be a staging of the same frame with pictorial techniques and with the aim of conveying a real emotion.
