Description
The course deals with a series of fundamental concepts considered particularly significant for their use in architectural criticism, theoretical teaching and the design studios. The aim of the course is to favour the connection between the linguistic repertoire used in the disciplinary debate and the words that accompany the student in acquiring competence in design. Among the “key words” in the critical vocabulary are: art, work, modern, morphology, typology, project, space, model, style, function, structure, landscape... Starting from a set of some twenty core concepts, the course develops an interpretation inspired by the methods of the history of ideas, intended to clarify for each item both its architectural meanings and its relationships with other disciplinary fields.
