Project: Various Typologies

In the 2018 autumn semester, four design studios (Arnaboldi, Bonnet, Collomb, Nunes-Gomes) will share the same project area: Lugano from Val Veleggio to Val Cassarate with the Carona-Morcote peninsula. Each will work on an independent theme and programme, while sharing the cartographic and iconographic material, theoretical lectures and some critiques. The project site common to the four studios comprises Lugano Agno airport, set at the southern end of Val Vedeggio. The runway, canal and motorway are therefore strategically placed for Lugano’s regional development. In the (academic) hypothesis of the of the airport being decommissioned, our studio proposes to explore a reflection on the reconversion of the runway and its setting as a resilient and exceptional reserve for this territory.
