Description

The course is not offered in the academic year 2020/21

COURSE OBJECTIVES
The main objective of the course is the implementation of finite element and finite difference methods for the solution of partial differential equations (PDEs).

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The students will learn how to design an object-oriented code incorporating all the necessary components (mesh, discretization schemes, sparse linear algebra, linear solvers). A particular focus will be put on the efficient implementation in MATLAB exploiting vectorization.

LEARNING METHODS
Lectures, laboratories, and homework assignments (including the solution of both analytical and computational problems).

EXAMINATION INFORMATION
Oral exam at the end of the semester

RECOMMENDED COURSES

  • Introduction to Computational Science
  • Introduction to Partial Differential Equations
