WISH: Workshop on International Social Housing

Description
The workshop is intended as a phase of experimentation and research into the theme of collective living and its social implications. The research aims to combine design with the principles of economy and seriality typical of large-scale architectural projects, in the belief that through a coherent urban design we can positively contribute to enriching the fabric of the city. Designing collective housing often means dealing with the almost systematic lack of urban systems capable of defining public places. The modulation of the primary ‘topoi’ of the urban environment (streets, squares, public gardens) through the design of large urban portions represents, in our opinion, an essential aspect and constitutes the background that connects the past WISH editions with future ones.
