Description

Continuing the ongoing Winterschool series on sustainable construction through digital fabrication, this edition investigates the potential of two material systems – natural stone and wood – combined with digital and craft fabrication methods to form new architectural constructions. The workshop is an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Institute for Sustainable Architecture and Technology, Accademia di Architettura USI and the ZHAW School of Architecture, Design and Civil Engineering , and selected industry partners.

Objectives

The building processes of today’s architecture remain among the most contaminating human activities. How can architects and engineers contribute to changing this? This workshop introduces sustainable construction practices through digital fabrication, focusing on real-world applications to explore the vital role of architects and engineers in shaping a more responsible built environment.
