Biography

Gloria Dagnino is lecturer at the Media and Journalism Institute at USI. In 2016, she obtained her PhD in Communication Sciences at USI. From 2017 to 2018, thanks to an Early.Postdoc Mobility grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation, she was a visiting researcher at the University of East London. She has been an invited lecturer at the University of Strasbourg and the University of Perugia. She currently teaches: Interdisciplinary approaches to gender and diversity at the Bachelor in Communication at USI; Strategies in screen industries at the Master in Media Management at USI; Film economics at the inter-university Master Réseau-Netzwerk CINEMA CH; Marketing of media and the creative industries at the Master CIMO at Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan. As a researcher, her interests mainly concern the practices, the legislative framework and the socio-cultural implications of the convergence between entertainment and commercial communication, the political economy of cinema, in particular Italian and Swiss cinema, and practices to foster diversity in the audiovisual industry. She is international academic adviser of the Branded Content Governance Research Project 2022-2025 of the University of the Arts London, co-funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Economic and Social Research Council. Since February 2023 she is research fellow at the University of Udine, where she works for the international project AGE-C Aging and Gender in European Cinema.
