    Biography

    Dr.ssa Francesca Scalici is scientific collaborator at the Equal Opportunities Service of the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), where she is currently in charge of the management and promotion of the USI mentoring Programme to improve womens' academic career.

    In march 2017, dr.ssa Scalici obteined her Phd in Communication sciences at Università della Svizzera italiana, Institute of  Communication and Helath. Her main areas of research are: adolescents' tobaco use and social norms, family interventions and parents-child communication for adolescents' tobacco prevention, public health.

    From 2008 to 2013, dr.ssa Scalici worked as research assistant at the Health department (DSAN) of University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) where she was involved in teaching activities in the course "Research, methodology and research project management " (bachelor course for second year students). During this period, she also was scientific collaborator in a research project founded by Swiss National Science Foundation (FNS) developed in collaboration with and Haute école spécialisée de Suisse occidentale (HES-SO) entitled «L´allocation de ressources dans le système de santé suisse - Le financement des soins dans les Etablissement médicaux sociaux et pour les soins a à domicile».

    Dr.ssa Scalici studied Political science at the University of Palermo, and she continued her education by attending an interdisciplinary Master degree in Public Management (MAP) at the University of Geneva, where she obtained the degree with a thesis focus on  the role of public authorities for the alcohol and tobacco prevention.
