Biography

Guido Bondolfi is currently Full Professor (Professore Ordinario) of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva and is the Chief Medical Officer of the Psychiatric Liaison and Crisis Intervention Service at the Department of Psychiatry of the University Hospitals of Geneva.

He studied and graduated at the University «La Sapienza» in Rome and in 1987 he got the Swiss medical degree from the University of Lausanne. He trained in psychiatry and psychotherapy at the Universities of Perugia, Lausanne and at the King’s College, London. Guido Bondolfi also trained as a cognitive psychotherapist and later as mindfulness instructor (MBCT and MBSR). He is the Director of the several programs for continuing university education at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva.: the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy; the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) in Systemic Psychotherapy; the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Mindfulness Based Interventions and the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Psychosomatic and Psychosocial Medicine.

His clinical and research interests include cognitive psychotherapy the applications of mindfulness based interventions in clinical practice and the interindividual differences in brain activity as a function of affective inclinations in healthy subjects and in patients with clinically unexplained and functional symptoms.

He is the author of more than 80 peer reviewed publications and of five books, among which: "Selfhood, Identity and Personality Styles" with Dr. G. Arciero (Wiley-Blackwell, 2009 translated in Italian “Sé, identità e stili di personalità“- Bollati Boringhieri, 2012) and "The Foundations of Phenomenological Psychotherapy" with Drs G. Arciero and V. Mazzola (Springer – 2018, translated in Italian “Fondamenti di psicoterapia fenomenologica “- Bollati Boringhieri, 2019).
