Abstract
The integration of artificial intelligence in the journalistic field has
prompted a pivotal discourse on ethical governance within European
Public Service Media (PSM). This growing reliance on generative AI
technologies has not only revolutionized news production but has also
necessitated the formulation and refinement of ethical guidelines aimed
at governing AI usage. While these guidelines serve as foundational
pillars designed to uphold journalistic integrity and ethical standards,
their practical application within the design and operational frameworks
remains a subject of considerable scrutiny. This study investigates the
incorporation of AI technologies within PSM through a dual lens: the
reflection of AI usage in ethical codes and guidelines, and the integration
of core journalistic values such as responsibility, diversity, and transparency
in the deployment of AI-driven tools.
