Description

This lecture by prof. Roux presents the history of Christianity. Christianity derives from Jesus Christ who lived about 2000 years ago in the roman province of Judea. He preached the coming of the kingdom of God gathered followers and healed many suffering people. His claim to be the messiah awaited by the jewish people aroused the enthusiasm of the crowd and the worries of the political leaders who feared for their privileged positions. His attitude scandalized many of his countrymen, because he acted as if he was endowed with divine authority. Eventually he was put to death by a crucifixion but three days later he appeared to his disciples and instructed them to preach the gospel to the world make disciples and baptize all the nations: Christianity was born. Christian history is far from being one of fame and triumph. Christians currently is one of the most persecuted religious groups in the world.
