Systems Security
People
Description
This class is focused on security at system level. The pervasive diffusion of computing systems in our everyday lives made security one of the most important extra-functional properties that designers have to provide and ensure. This course introduces to student attacks against various types of system and presents to them dedicated countermeasures. The course consists of two parts. On the one, more focused on the threat part, students learn side channel attacks, the problems of security in cyber-physical systems and in the cloud. On the other, more focused on the protection part, the students learn how to counteract the threat seen in the first part of the course and will learn privacy preserving technologies, access control system, trusted execution environment, and efficient implementation of cryptography primitives.
Objectives
Teach students the main threats to system security and the related mitigation techniques / countermeasures
