Description

This course builds on the first-semester Calculus course. We begin with complex numbers and power series expansions. Next, we explore differential equations and standard solution methods.
The focus then shifts to multivariate functions including quadratic forms. We proceed with multivariate differentiation, gradients, local extrema and the Hessian. Finally, the course covers multivariate integration including path integrals, volume calculations and transformation formulas.

Objectives

  1. Learn the fundamental concepts in multivariate calculus
  2. Gain familiarity with differential and integral calculus of functions of several real variables and the handling of partial derivatives
  3. Develop the ability to mathematically describe practical problems.
