Operations Management
Description
Introduce students to the principles and practices of operations management. Enhance students’ technical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. The course relies on a combination of lectures, readings, and in-class exercises.
Objectives
This course addresses the management of operations in manufacturing and service organizations. It introduces concepts and techniques for design, planning, control, and improvement of manufacturing and service operations.
Managing operations effectively requires both strategic and tactical skills. Significant competitive advantages accrue to firms that manage their operations and resources effectively and efficiently. Operations Management is a vast subject, and several topics could be covered in class; the emphasis will be on practical tools that aid decision-making.

Class sessions combine lectures, interactive exercises, group presentations and discussions. The diversity of approaches seeks to enhance students’ technical, decision-making, problem-solving, and practical skills. To achieve these goals in an effective way, it is important to engage in and prepare for discussion; participate actively during class discussions; and review readings and assignments for their applicability to concepts covered in class
Class attendance is not mandatory, but some sessions will have quizzes.
