Centre for Organisational Research - Health and Public management (CORe)
Description
Since 2002 the Public and Health Care Management unit at USI has been conducting basic and applied research, as well as providing for the teaching at graduate and post-graduate levels, with strong focus on public administration (State and Municipal), public enterprises, healthcare and local social services organisations.
The unit is a key member of the SPAN (Swiss Public Administration Network) and SSPH+ (Swiss School of Public Health). It has seen its importance acknowledged at European and international levels with the assignment, in 2014, of the organisation of the 10th TAD-Transatlantic Dialogue conference, which is promoted by EGPA (European Group of Public Administration) and ASPA (American Society of Public Administration).
Thanks to a partnership deal with SUPSI (University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland) and its department for Social and Corporate Sciences, and in collaboration with the Government of the Canton Ticino, the Public and Health Care Management unit at USI has successfully conducted two editions of EMAP, the Executive Master in Public Administration, for the periods 2004-2006 and 2006-2008, during which an overall of 40 participants from Cantonal and Municipal administrations were enrolled.
Faculty members of the unit are also involved with teaching in Master programmes in the areas of health care management and economics (NetMegs - Master of Health Management and Economics) and in the GeFo (Gestione della Formazione per dirigenti d’istituzioni formative)
The unit has conducted several research projects funded by the SNSF (Swiss National Science Foundation) and the EU 7th Framework Program, it has received consulting mandates from the Canton Ticino (public administration sector), and it is currently conducting a series of research projects on the trends in public administrations in Switzerland and, together with the PPP Suisse association, in the field of public-private partnerships.
The health and public management group collaborates with the Institute of Law (IDUSI) and with the Department of Sanità and Scienze aziendali e sociali at the SUPSI University of applied sciences of Southern Switzerland.
